Promoting Safe and Stable Families

Stop Gap-Available to Iowa tribal members and to Native American children who live in the service area. This is financial assistance for "at risk" families who are referred to the programs.

Preventive/Intervention Services-Available to Native Americans living in the service area, includes referrals, parenting sessions, home based intervention, crisis intervention, transportation & advocacy.

Supportive Services for Foster and Adoptive Families certified by the Iowa Tribe.

Family Violence Prevention & Services Program

Financial Assistance—Available to victims of family violence.

Court, Social Service & Victim Advocacy Services-Available to victims of family violence

General Assistance

General Assistance is the main financial assistance available to enrolled Native Americans who live in the service area, have no income or resources and that meet other individual requirements as to the household situation.

Is intended to meet certain specified unmet essential needs of eligible Native Americans within the Iowa Tribal Service area. This includes direct payment to meet prescribed essential needs of individual and families.

Unmet essential need is determined by reviewing with each applicant his/her situation, including a determination of the size of the household, income or resources available, and applicable state assistance requirements for meeting financial need.

General Assistance payments are intended to meet the cost of basic need items as defined by the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) standards for the state in which the applicant or recipient resides.

Indian Child Welfare

Available to Iowa Tribal Children and their families who come under the tribal or state courts involvement,

Foster Care and Adoptive Services—Foster and Adoptive Homes are certified and eligible applicants who are qualified and pass an intensive background check are eligible.

Prevention/Intervention Services - Available to Iowa Tribal Members.

Title IV-B Child Welfare Services Program

This Program supports both the Indian Child Welfare program and the Promoting Safe and Stable Families Program
