Greetings Tribal Members, It’s been a very productive term for me as your Treasurer. Leadership for the Iowa Tribe is a privilege and an honor given to us by each one of you-the Ioway Tribal members. I am honored to serve in this capacity with my other fellow Business Committee members. I have had the great pleasure of serving as Treasurer for the Ioway Nation since 2009. Although I have met many tribal members there are still many I have not met. I hope this short introduction will give you some information about me. I am the great granddaughter of Edward and Phoebe Small, my grandfather is the late Dan Small and my parents are George and Deborah Gouge. I was born and raised in Oklahoma. In my family, I have two beautiful children, a son and daughter, and one puppy. After graduating from high school, I enlisted and served in the U.S Army. With much persistence and self determination managed to go to College utilizing the GI Bill and received my Bachelors from Southern Nazarene University then recieved my Masters from the University of Oklahoma. During my tenure, my previous work experiences in project management and change management have been very valuable to areas of process improvements at the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma. My vision for an internal IT department has been very instrumental in achieving milestones for the Office of Treasury. We have a new transformation of our website and are seeking new inventive ways to communicate with tribal members more effectively utilizing the website. The introduction of web streaming of the meetings can be viewed. With the help of the IT department we have implemented a new electronic Purchase Order system, reducing time and paper in processing check request and purchase orders. A cash deposit process has been implemented to ensure checks and balances are properly in place for cash deposits. Additionally, Tribal payments now have an option for direct deposit, and for convenience tribal payments can be cashed at the Cimarron Casino. Also, the tribes accounting policy has been updated. As a business committee member, it has always been my goal to do what is in the best interest of the Ioway tribal members. A commitment I plan to uphold. Again, thank you for allowing me to serve as your Treasurer. Lisa |
