The Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma offers a Tribal youth program formatted to mentor and tutor Native American children attending school between the ages of 5-17. Two main goals for this Program are to provide prevention services to impact risk factors for delinquency and to provide alcohol and drug abuse prevention programs.

The activities of the TYP program include:

• Mentoring
• Tutoring
• Recreation
• Cultural Act
• Incentives
• Social interaction
• Substance abuse prevention
• Safe alternative activities

TYP runs Monday through Thursday from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m. Children are offered daily snacks from 3:30-4:00. They then are divided into groups to study, work on homework or educational subjects on which they need assistance. TYP follows the local school schedule and the schedule of the Tribal complex.
