Victim Assistance Program
The Iowa Tribe Victim Assistance Program works to meet the needs of victims of crime
The Victim assistance program accepts referrals from law enforcement, social service agencies, family members or victims of crime
The Victim assistance program works to educate the public to prevent crime and re-victimization
Program staff serve as a single point of contact and accountability as they work to coordinate federal, state, local and tribal programs and services to meet the needs of crime victims and usher them through the criminal justice system
This program can provide services such as:
- Providing education and awareness programs to prevent victimization.
- Crisis Intervention and prevention
- Arranging logistical assistance such as transportation and daycare.
- Counseling and making assurance that the victim is safe
- Assisting victims in navigating the legal system
- Provide assistance for securing restitution and victims compensation
Program staff are also available to respond to a crime scene to begin immediate support services for the victim.
