Title VI - Elders Program

The Title VI nutrition program and respite program provides free meals, activities, information, referrals, respite for caregivers, a lending closet for caregivers, and support to all Iowa elders and other Native American elders who reside in the Iowa Tribe’s service area. Meals are planned and approved by the Iowa Tribe’s certified dietician to be nutritionally balanced, meeting 1/3 of the recommended daily allowances for elders. All people who work in the kitchen are required to have food handlers training.

Minimum eligibility requirements to eat lunch/breakfast at Whitecloud for free:

  • Must be 55 years of age or older
  • Have tribal enrollment card from any tribe
  • Fill out senior intake form

Lunch is also available for everyone else at $4.00 per meal
Lunch is served Monday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Breakfast is served Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.

Requirements to have meals delivered:

  • Must be 55 years of age or older
  • Have tribal enrollment card from any Federally recognized tribe
  • Live in expanded service area
  • Obtain a medical referral

The caregiver program has the same requirements as above and an application must be filled out. Funds are available to pay someone outside the home to assist a caregiver of an elder. Often the respite worker will do household chores, lawn work, errands, or whatever is needed to provide the caregiver with some rest.

A lending closet containing wheelchairs, walkers, bath./shower benches, canes, other assistive aids, books on care giving, and videos teaching care giving techniques are available to borrow.
