Environmental Services
The Office of Environmental Services (OES) was established in September of 1997
as a means for the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma to protect and conserve the rich
environment that is our heritage. Many responsibilities previously addressed
by the Indian Health Service's Office of Environmental Health have been assumed
by the Iowa Tribe's OES. This gives the Tribe a more direct say in the care
and conservation of our tribal lands. Since that time, the OES has been
aggressively developing environmental strategies in solid wastes management,
air quality, emergency response, water resources management, subsurface minerals
evaluation, and wetlands management/restoration. We have acquired an informational
data base including resources on a wide variety of environmental and safety topics,
which can be made available to those who are interested. For access to these
resources or for general questions, please contact the Manager of Environmental
Services.

Our Mission:
The Office of Environmental Services (OES) for the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma will
pursue environmental capacity building and develop centralized environmental
initiatives and activities on Tribal Properties to protect and preserve the air,
land, natural resources and water for the benefit of present and future
generations. The OES will be a voice for the Iowa Tribe's concerns on
environmental issues and legislation at both the state and federal levels. The
OES will be a consulting resource to assist other departments in managing
environmental related areas of responsibilities.
